Slide A Number is based on a sliding puzzle that was invented in the late nineteenth century. That puzzle challenged you to slide flat pieces arranged on a board into a particular pattern. When you start Slide A Number for the first time, or when you press the NEW button, a fresh puzzle is created for you. All you have to do is to rearrange the numbers into numerical order with the blank square (shown with a yellow background) in the bottom right hand corner.Rearrange the numbers by clicking on or pressing one of the number-filled squares that surround the blank square. The number-filled square will change places with the blank square. When all the numbers are in the correct order, a congratulatory message is displayed, telling you how many moves you made and the time you took to solve the puzzle.Press the NEW button to see a completely new puzzle, or move the SKILL LEVEL bar to the right to make the puzzles more difficult. If, at any time, you cannot rearrange the letters, press the SOLVE button.
